| Accreditation
Why are we all working hard collecting and entering data for the Accreditation process?
The Accreditation Process allows KYRHA to examine all aspects of health care, from patient safety and ethics, to staff training and partnering with the community. It gives us the chance to confirm that clients can expect the same quality of care from our health delivery services as that of the rest of the nation.
Accreditation Update
September: Accreditation training for staff was held in BN and ILX.
October: Accreditation Canada will work with KYRHA to develop a customized survey plan and pre-survey profile. There will be a draft list of sites and services to be seen during the survey. Once we have the information confirmed they will be shared with staff.
Late October/November: Team leads will conduct information sessions for staff regarding on-site visit.
February 2010: (On-site Survey)
Between February 22 and 26, 2010 surveyors from Accreditation Canada will be in our region to evaluate to what extent that Accreditation Standards are being met.
The on-site survey is an opportunity for surveyors to discuss our progress in addressing self identified (through the assessments, surveys, indicators) areas for improvement and to share their expertise with staff.
They are NOT here to appraise personal performance of staff members.
In order for staff to actively participate, the surveyor’s will use observation, discussion and document review to verify compliance with the standards.
The onsite survey may make some staff and clients anxious, therefore it is important to stress there is not an expectation that staff and clients know everything, but to feel comfortable in sharing what they know and directing the surveyor to someone else who may be able to provide more information.
Who are the Surveyors
Surveyors work in different health facilities in Canada and take time from their regular duties to conduct surveys across the country on behalf of CCHSA.
